Hey guys, question about beta 2. Where do you change the fail options? Right now it's at fail instantly, and I wanted to turn it to fail after 30 misses.

Is there any way you can make it so mods can have a variable in them? That way we could make crazy mods, more importantly the driven drop =o.

Ok another question. How do you turn off the unlock system? Some stuff in ITG2 is missing lol. I tried doing it through Stepmania.ini but it reverts when I start the program.

i think you can change UnlockSystem to 1 in the metrics. not sure tough

Put it in Static.ini

I'm assuming you don't refer to just changing the line to 60% accel, and mean something that varies depending on the song chosen.


Specifically in relation to the driven drop, my super C++ skills (which largely involve pointing at a screen of code and declaring "This bit does something" whilst expecting somebody else to write the thing in the first place) say it's impossible.

However, I then decided to think about it more rationally, and think it's merely impractical. If you expect it to work over a part of a song, then you'd need to control behaviour "before" and after the mod starts. This may of course be just doing it at the start of the song, but then you get a drop at the start which may not do anything and still leaves you playing on 200% centered(?) on the rest of the stage.

For a driven drop to work across a whole stage, you'd need to set the scroll speed extremely low and the percentage very low for the effect to work. Granted this could be calculated by grabbing the song length and tempo with a little help from the lua passing this to ScreenBranchStage as a series of mods as if it was just a set of percentages of mods.

This leaves two problems, the more obvious being that variable tempos break the mod into lots of tiny bits which, without the ability (afaik) of ScreenGameplay to process modifiers during dance mode can't be overcome. The other problem, which I don't recall ever being fixed from the days where FoonMix was the latest thing, was that once these mods get passed, they get passed as percentages of a number of mods, and so when you go back to ScreenOptionsMenu you'll end up with these mods being chosen rather than what you picked in the first place.


... meh, tl;dr. Even I can't remember wtf I was talking about now. Something about "How do you think it will work?" maybe. Is it 2010 yet?

So, I recently installed OpenITG Beta 2 and tried downloading the ITG 1 song pack with no videos from megaupload. How do I get them into the game? I tried using Winzip, but about all I managed to do was get them in a compressed file, but it won't let me extract them.

Unzip the files, until you have the folder labeled "In The Groove", which will be filled with the individual song folders. Take that entire folder and place it into the "Songs" folder of the OpenITG Program's location. Rinse, repeat for any other packs.

Hey I just came up with an idea for OITG. Pack Syncing. Sometimes when people make packs the syncing is all off by the same amount on every song, so instead of having to go through and manually re-sync every song in the pack, you could instead change the offset of every song in the pack by the same amount all at once.

Ok, got a huge problem that I'm finally sick of.

Background videos on the machine is causing it (on quite a few songs) to lag horribly bad. I've done everything I know of to disable it and nothing happens. The BackgroundMovies in the .ini has been changed to 0,1,2,and 3 and still nothing turned them off.

I'm at the point where reverting back to ITG binary wont be a problem even though I like oITG more.

Help.
